Deciding On Your Bridal Flowers

Your wedding day is just around the corner and you have to make that final decision, what bridal flowers should you use? There are a lot of choices you can have: long, short, dark, light and real vs. artificial – and many others. Bridal flowers are one of the most important decisions; (next to your dress of course) to make your wedding a “perfect” one.

The type of bridal bouquet you choose will say a lot about you and the look and feel you’re trying to get across. Where does that leave you? A good suggestion is to hire a wedding planner and wedding florist to help you make the right decision.

If a wedding planner isn’t in the budget then you’ll have to do things on your own. You can learn to arrange bouquet that looks like designer flowers with the help of many resources available today, such as books and magazines. Most women have a good sense of what looks good and goes together and what doesn’t. If necessary, ask friends and family to help.

When selecting the type of flowers to use, one advice is to hold the bridal flowers up against one of your bridesmaids dresses. This will give you a good sense as to what flower color(s) will go and which ones won’t.

Never go with your first pick. Give yourself options. If you find yourself coming back to your first pick, then by all means go with it it. You should pick a few party flowers you think you’ll like as your wedding floral bouquet. Bunch them together and add a little greenery, maybe some babies breath and pretty ribbon. Take the possible bridal flowers and have your bridesmaids model them for you.

If you can see what they’ll look like next to your girls dresses and how they look holding them, this will give you a better idea as to which flowers to use. Remember, you don’t want to overpower their dresses and you don’t want your bouquet to overpower or take away from you and your dress. After all, you’re the bride! You’re supposed to be the most beautiful thing your friends and family see, not your bridal flowers.

The last thing to talk about is real vs. artificial – and this depends on the location of the wedding. If you’re having an outside wedding, go with silk flowers vs. real, only because they would hold up better. The last thing you want on your wedding day is your bridal flowers to be wilted.
